The Best Beauty Looks From New York Fashion Week Spring 2020

Prepare your Pinterest boards for some serious beauty inspo

New York Fashion Week Spring 2020 is officially upon us. Though the fashion has been breathtaking, we’ve had our eyes primed (and notebooks at the ready!) for all the best beauty looks. And boy, we have not been disappointed…

From the understated elegant beauty vibes going on at Ralph Lauren’s show to the frenzy of colour we spotted at Christian Siriano, NYFW Spring 2020 has delivered some seriously show-stopping beauty looks.

Here are some of our faves, so far:

Artistic expression at Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano took a unique approach, bringing American artist Ashley Longshore onto the runway to complete the finishing touches to her paintings while the models strode down the catwalk. And the creativity didn’t stop there! In keeping with the pop art theme, the models’ faces were adorned with artistic swipes of pink and blue pigment that gave the impression that an artist’s paintbrush had created the looks. Meanwhile, hair was worn in simple long plaits, allowing the fun makeup looks to do all the talking.

Elegantly understated at Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren took a stripped-back approach to beauty, sending models down the runway in understated, neutral-toned makeup looks. As for the hair, styling was kept simple yet polished with smooth blowouts and sleek ponytails. The result? Ultra-elegant beauty vibes that are absolutely wearable IRL. We know how we’ll be doing our hair and makeup this weekend!

Summer vibes at Brandon Maxwell

Unfussy, beach-appropriate beauty looks took centre stage at Brandon Maxwell, giving those of us in the southern hemisphere a welcome reminder that summer is *just* around the corner. Makeup was kept to a minimum, save for a subtle winged eyeliner to add definition to eyes and sheer foundation that allowed the models’ natural beauty and sun-kissed skin to shine through. Look closely and you’ll even spot a smattering of freckles across Bella Hadid’s nose and cheeks. Gorgeous!

Personalised beauty looks at Christopher John Rogers

Customisation was the name of the game at Christopher John Rogers. Although each model took to the runway with a totally personalised beauty look, the looks were still linked together through a number of beauty motifs: statement lip liner, playful splashes of colour, a sculptural hairstyle, or a combination of all of these looks.

‘More is more’ at Tomo Koizumi

Okay, so things got wild (in a very good way) at the Tomo Koizumi show. This insanely sparkly beauty look was inspired by the inimitable David Bowie’s makeup. Renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath was behind the glam, describing the vibe as “COLOUR CRAZED LEWKS” in an Instagram post. And she is not wrong. The key? Pat McGrath Labs’ newly launched Mothership VI: Midnight Sun eyeshadow palette and a ‘more is more’ approach, of course!

The comeback of hair combs at Tory Burch

You know what? We definitely did not predict the return of this retro hair accessory but after seeing Tory Burch’s show, we’re falling over ourselves to try the trend. Proving that everything old really can be new again, models at Tory Burch sported the ‘80s favourite hair accessory. Paired with demure makeup, the humble hair comb has never looked better, and we’re thinking this will be our new office beauty look.
