When it comes to spotting emerging new beauty trends, the runway is decidedly one of the best places to look. Not only do the international shows preview the new fashion collections of seasons to come, they also tease the hair and makeup looks you’re about to see everywhere.
This year’s international Spring/Summer 2020 Fashion Month circuit has totally over-delivered on beauty inspo. From New York Fashion Week’s frenzy of colour to London Fashion Week’s eclectic mixed-bag beauty aesthetic and Milan’s inimitable all-out Italian glamour, there has been so much to see.
And now, we’ve reached the final instalment of SS20: Paris. We had high hopes for the beauty looks that this major international fashion capital would deliver, and boy did the French bring it.
Here are the best new beauty trends, straight from the Paris Fashion Week runways:
The new way to Dutch braid at Dior
“I’ve done a kind of Dutch braid on the hairline,” explained Redken’s Global Creative Director Guido Palau in a press release. “The softness in the braid and the profile feels very soft, very romantic, and a bit youthful.”
We couldn’t agree more; we’re totally head over heels for this gorgeous new braid trend.
Gritty glam at Saint Laurent
Models descended the Saint Laurent runway with a beauty vibe that was equal parts gritty and glam. To get that lived-in hair vibe, reach for a product like R+Co Trophy Shine + Texture Spray and don’t worry if you’ve got a few hairs out of place – a little dishevelledness and a devil-may-care attitude is key to achieving this cool-girl look.
Effortless holiday skin at Isabel Marant
Dewy, lit-from-within complexions were on the agenda at Isabel Marant’s show and we’re loving this relaxed, totally wearable approached to beauty. If you’d like to try the look, a dewy foundation and a cream blush are key to nailing it. Throw your hair in a messy ponytail and you’re all set for your next summer vacay.
Floral hair accessories at Etam
Hair accessories have been a firm favourite among the fashion set this year and Etam’s gorgeous floral take on the trend is the perfect beauty inspo for your next spring racing event. If you’d like to get on board the trend, keep your makeup minimal, loosely curl your hair and pluck a flower from the garden on your way out to tuck behind an ear. Race day chic is now a cinch!
Party eyes at Off White
This weekend-ready beauty look is so ridiculously fun. A smattering of chunky sparkles were placed in semi circles at the inner corners of the eyes and we’re thinking this would make the perfect Saturday night look when you’re feeling a little extra. To allow the glitter to have maximum impact, follow Off White’s lead and keep the rest of your beauty look low-key.
Jewellery-adorned hair at Mugler
Mugler sent models down the runway with some of the most extravagant hair accessories we’ve seen yet. Hair was slicked back into ultra-sleek buns before being adorned with long silver chains.
Wine stained lips at Chloé
This moody wine-coloured lip was spotted at Chloe and has us reminiscing about the ‘90s. Paired with an elegant updo and lightly contoured features, we think this gorgeous look is perfect for an evening out.
‘70s rock ‘n’ roll vibes at Celine
Celine went all-out retro with this epic rock ‘n’ roll-inspired beauty look, featuring kohl-rimmed bedroom eyes and choppy ‘70s pageboy cuts.
‘No makeup’ makeup at Givenchy
Givenchy schooled PFW in how to nail ‘no makeup’ makeup with this stunning fresh beauty look and the subtlest of highlighting of the high points of the face. If you’d like to try the trend, check out some of the best skin-perfecting products here.
Pushed-back hair at Lanvin
If you want to accentuate your facial features, try a pushed-back hair look like this one from Lanvin’s show. Add a flick of black eyeliner to your upper lashes and you’re good to go!
Overdrawn red lips at Louis Vuitton
The overdrawn lip trend was given a new lease on life at Louis Vuitton where models’ lips were exaggerated to epic proportions and polished off with a heavy coat of gloss.
