Here are your new go-to hairstyles for those hot, sticky summer days

We all love a splash of fresh celebrity beauty inspiration, and the Baby2Baby Gala 2018 red carpet *definitely* delivered. While there were some killer makeup looks getting around (Jenna Dewan’s blush! Busy Philipps’ graphic eyeliner! Lauren Conrad’s classic wing!), it was their inspo-worthy hairstyles that got us excited about our own summer hairdos.
Styling your hair in the Aussie heat can be fickle, especially when it’s for some kind of event (read: race day, New Year’s Eve, general summer shenanigans). We all know that hot, sticky summer days and those in-your-face hair looks just don’t go together, so allow us to deliver some stunning inspiration in the form of slicked back hair, low ponytails and middle-parted updos that make effortless summer hair look so chic (and sweat-proof).
Who knew low ponytails could look this good?! Jessica Alba arrived at the Baby2Baby Gala red carpet with her hair parted in the middle and styled back in a low but voluminous ponytail. It’s a SUPER simple look and yet it’s also incredibly elegant. Not only does it allow your stunning makeup look to take centre stage, but it keeps your locks off your sweaty face, which is always a plus come summertime.
Showing a little less volume on the ponytail front, Rachel Bilson opted for a similar updo to Jessica Alba. Parted in the centre, her hair was slicked back in a sleek low ponytail, drawing attention to her luminous complexion while perfectly framing her features.
Apart from that eye-catching lower liner and wing combo (we need to try this, ASAP), we were seriously lusting over Olivia Culpo’s polished ‘do. Parted in the centre and styled behind her ears, her locks were kept out of her face in the most perfect summer-friendly hairstyle. If you’re not a fan of updos, the behind-the-ear tuck is about to become your new summer must-have! Just take a look at these two celebs who made it a thing at the recent EMAs.
Jennifer Garner channelled her inner Meghan Markle (you can’t forget THAT ponytail she wore at Bondi Beach), opting for a sleek high ponytail. Jennifer’s hair was teased at the crown to add a touch of volume for an elegant and stylish look. It’s all the proof you need that you can *never* go wrong with this OG hairstyle – even on the red carpet!
