‘Coconut candy blonde’ is the latest hair trend with a built-in halo effect

Light it up

Just when we thought we’d seen every shade of blonde, along comes a genius colourist ready to switch up the way we wear the golden-hued hair colour all together.

Case and point? In a recent interview with Glamour, Karissa Schaudt, colourist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, just coined the term ‘coconut candy hair’. A bright and light take on blonde that concentrates highlights around the face to create a halo-lighting effect, the trend reduces the need for touch-ups thanks to the dispersion of deeper tones at the root of the hair.

“The concentrated or chunky face-framing highlights are what make this super trendy right now,” Schaudt explained to Glamour. “[It] suits any hair texture but is best on brunettes looking for that pop of blonde.”

Keen to try the tone for yourself? Schaudt advised to “ask your colourist to foil your hairline for that blonde intensity around your face,” and then “pair the foils with a partial balayage, leaving the nape natural so there’s contrast remaining.”
