As far as short hairstyles go, the bob is by far one of the most popular. Whether it’s a shaggy bob, French bob, layered bob or sleek glass hair bob, it’s the versatility of this style that keeps it forever fashionable.
And when it comes to 2021 hair trends, our desire for low-maintenance looks and texture means it’s also unlikely to go anywhere any time soon. So if you’re considering cutting your hair from long to short, the bob is a safe bet.
The key to nailing the transition? Find the bob cut best suited to your hair type and your face shape.
To help on your search for ‘the one’, we’ve rounded up some of the best celebrity bobs to date so you can find your match and ultimate inspo.
These before and afters really do prove the power of the perfect bob hairstyle.
Irina Shayk just debuted a choppy bob and micro fringe; it’s not the first time we’ve seen the model absolutely rock a bob though. In fact, Shayk has a tendency to yo-yo between long locks and chin-grazing bobs with some notable regularity (honestly, been there sis). Here’s hoping we get to enjoy this edgy version of the ‘do a little longer though...

Proving her chameleon abilities extend past her job as an actor, Lupita Nyong’o just flipped the script on us all by ditching her lengthy braids for a shoulder grazing curly bob and bangs. Who’s to say if the bob’s here to stay, but as she hilariously reminded us – that’s her prerogative, captioning the IG post: “Yes, it's my hair - I bought it! #Hairxperimentation.” No truer words have ever been said.

It was the cut that signalled Swift's transition from country to pop music, as well as an edgier attitude. The 'shaggy bob' complete with face-framing fringe is still a highly popular style.
Prior to her chin-grazing chop, Gerber was the spitting image of her mum, Cindy Crawford. But since the snip, the model has stepped out of the family shadow and made the catwalk her own.
Laura Harrier can do no wrong in our eyes and this curly bob is oh so right.
Speaking of models and transformational cuts, when Irina Shayk hit the red carpet with this blunt bob, it was like she didn't even have actor Bradley Cooper on her arm. All eyes were on her hair.
Of course, scissors aren't always heavily involved in the bob process. Take Michelle Williams, who grew her signature platinum pixie into this Hollywood wave masterpiece.
Rihanna changes her hair up often, playing around with all lengths, colours and textures. But one of our all-time favourites is her wavy bob with centre-parted fringe.
Post-Spiderman filming, we not only saw Miss Stone return to her signature red (even though she's a natural blonde) but this bob and side-sweeping fringe situation is still one of our favourite bob cuts of all time.
We may have fallen hard for Noah Centineo in To All The Boys I've Loved Before, but co-star Lana Condor stole our hearts and our beauty respect with this hair change-up.
Whether it's bob or lob inspiration you're after, you'll find plenty of short hairstyles in Jenna Dewan's style files. This subtle asymmetrical one, in particular, is ripe for the picking.
Hough was synonymous with her long blonde hair for years, but when the dancer/TV star took it to a chin-grazing length, the shorter style suited her down to a tee.
With Jen Atkin as her hairstylist, Teigen was the first of many to spark our long love affair with the lob. Ever since, we applaud each time the cookbook author returns to a shorter style.
Like many Victoria's Secret Angels before her, Taylor Hill parted with her incredibly long catwalk mane, going straight to the cool-girl bob in one fell swoop.
