The beauty looks you don’t want to miss from the 2019 Grammy Awards
Our favourite celeb beauty looks from music’s biggest night
Beauty Crew Beauty Writer / February 11 2019
Out of all the award shows, we’ll always have a soft spot for the Grammy Awards – it’s known for its daring and sometimes controversial beauty looks and that’s what we’re all about.
It’s time for us to collectively froth over a whole heap of crazy-pretty celebrity beauty looks, before breaking them out for ourselves (hello, weekend inspo!). Find out some of our favourite beauty looks straight from the 2019 Grammys red carpet.
Barefaced and beautiful, as always, the host of the evening walked the red carpet with that signature fresh, glowing skin - once again inspiring us with her raw, natural beauty. She also wore her hair slicked back in a half-up half-down hairstyle, embracing her bouncy curls.
Wearing a black cat-eye, dewy skin and a pinky-nude pout, Miley kept her makeup classic and understated. Her makeup perfectly complemented her beachy waves, which were worn in a deep side part and styled over one shoulder for a relaxed and effortless vibe. Yep, her beauty game has *definitely* changed over the years!
10 out of 10 for that fresh platinum hair colour! Lady Gaga worked some easy barely-there waves, all while showing us just how GOOD dark roots can actually look. On the makeup front, the singer wore an edgy smoky eye with the dark eyeshadow blended out past the outer corners of her eyes. Her makeup artist used a combination of Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer and Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Steel(atto) (this little guy hits Aus in March) to create that rockstar eye look.
While we’re sad we can’t see all of J.Lo’s makeup look (curse that overtly large hat!), what we can see looks pretty darn delightful. She wore a super light nude lip that contrasted perfectly with her dark smoky eye makeup and dramatic false lashes. For her hair, she wore it slicked back in an uber long ponytail.
Janelle Monae always seems to kill it on the red carpet – and the Grammys was no exception. There’s just something so striking about her combination of gilded lids, navy blue liner and big voluminous lashes. Plus, did you see her EPIC braid?!
Cardi B looks so insanely extra and we are HERE for it. The rapper went all out, opting for a pink cut-crease eyeshadow look, super dramatic lashes and a glossy pink lip. Her hair was worn in a retro-looking updo, adorned with pearls, nonetheless.
Anna Kendrick looked pretty in pink, matching her cheeks and eyes to her lips – she proves that no matter how you wear it, pink always makes for a head-turning look. Want to copy the exact look for yourself? Word has it that Anna wore a swipe of 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip & Cheek Tint on the apples of her cheeks, and used 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented® Pomegranate Oil Anti Aging Lipstick on her lips (pretty much her whole makeup look was courtesy of 100% Pure). The actress also chose to wear her long wavy locks up in a sky-high ponytail, lifting her features and accentuating her eyes in the process.
Showing off her platinum pixie cut, Katy Perry also opted for a pink makeup look, reminding us yet again that this colour is still very much the hue of the moment. Similar to Anna, Katy went for a pink-stained pout, lips and cheeks for a seriously pretty look. It goes to show that adding a touch of pink to your whole makeup look actually balances it out rather than makes it look over the top.
Ashlee Simpson’s bold eye makeup and baby pink lip combo is *everything* and we’re definitely stealing this look for ourselves. Teamed with perfectly arched brows, Ashlee added a touch of highlighter in the inner corners of her eyes to make her peepers appear bigger and brighter.
We can’t get enough of Camila’s hair! She styled her locks in a voluminous low ponytail (she used L'Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Deep Nourishing Treatment for that next-level shine), leaving her fringe out in an effortless side-swept style. For her makeup look she wore a flush of pink on her cheeks and a classic black winged eyeliner look.
Tracee Ellis Ross
Taking a leaf out of Alicia Keys’ book, Tracee showed off pared-back makeup (look at those freckles!) and dewy-looking skin. And she may just win first prize on the braid front – her ponytail went all the way down to her knees!
Jada Pinkett Smith
Jada nailed the whole red carpet thing in a gorgeous monochromatic mauve eyeshadow look, teamed with a ‘90s-worthy pink glossy lip. And can we please talk about just how glowing her skin is? She looks like she’s stumbled upon the fountain of youth and we want to know where she’s hiding it.
Nina let her eyes steal all the attention, going for a dark mauve smoky eye - the perfect hue to accentuate her deep brown eyes. She wore her hair tied back in a sleek low bun and accessorised with a pretty black headband.
