15 killer beauty looks from the 2019 Oscars red carpet
The looks you *cannot* miss

The Oscars 2019 are finally here and we’re itching to see what the night brings! While the Golden Globes and Grammys gave us a whole heap of delicious beauty inspo, the Oscars is undoubtedly Hollywood’s biggest night, so you’re going to bet the stars and their glam squads pulled out ALL the stops.
From classic Hollywood glamour to risk-taking eye makeup, sleek centre parts and matchy-matchy makeup looks, the celebs served up some seriously dazzling beauty looks that deserve a whole separate awards category. Check out some of our faves below.
Um…WOW! Charlize looks *so* good as a brunette! The star arrived on the Oscars red carpet showing off her fresh hairstyle and ultra-glamorous beauty look. She went for a statement coral lip, which stood out against her pale skin and new hair colour, and kept the rest of her makeup looking uber fresh and glowing (as always).
Ashley looked stunning with a slicked-back updo that was parted in the middle (very Meghan Markle) and adorned with a heap of tiny black velvet Jennifer Behr bows (swoon!). On the makeup front she wore a smoky cat eye, fluttery lashes and a rosy nude lipstick. What’s not to love?!
Emilia also rocked the sleek middle part, tucking her newly-brunette bob behind her ears and letting her pretty pink makeup look take centre stage. She wore a swipe of fuchsia pink blush on her cheeks, matching it with a statement pink lip and voluminous lashes.
Fact: Gemma Chan *never* disappoints on the red carpet. The girl has wowed us yet again with the most jaw-dropping red carpet beauty look. Wearing her hair tied back in a messy low bun, the Crazy Rich Asians star matched her purplish-pink eye makeup and lips to her outfit (it seems like this is the done thing right now!). She also chose to add a classic black winged eyeliner, which we think contrasts perfectly with her pretty makeup look. As for her out-of-this-world glowing skin – we just can’t deal with it. HOW?!
That hair! Amy looked like an absolute VISION wearing her cooper locks out in loose, cascading waves. She opted for a bronze metallic shadow on her lids, which worked to accentuate her blue eyes. Take note, blue-eyed gals!
It looks like brunette hair is having a moment! Emma also showed off a fresh brunette ‘do, which she styled in a sleek low bun (side note: how glossy does her hair look?!). For her eye makeup, she chose an eye-catching metallic burgundy eyeshadow to match her outfit, smoking it out in a wing at the corners of her eyes.
We were itching with excitement to see Lady Gaga’s beauty look, and boy - we weren’t disappointed. Makeup artist Sarah Tanno kept the star’s makeup looking soft and fresh, applying a statement pale blue liner on her lids. We think this colour works wonders against her dark brown eyes, brightening her entire beauty look. As for her hair – it’s an *actual* work of art.
Amandla took to the red carpet wearing a classic black winged eyeliner look, teamed with beautiful glowing skin. But it was her intricate finger-wave braids that seriously caught our attention. The two-toned brown hairstyle added a bit of a vintage flair to her entire beauty look – we’re totally into it.
The actress looked every bit glam and sophisticated, wearing a bold red lip and her hair pulled back in a sleek high ponytail. She added some texture and volume through the lengths with some soft waves. Simple yet seriously pretty.
Looking utterly sensational, the 73-year-old acting legend stole the show with a pretty pink makeup look. Taking inspo from her fuchsia gown, she wore a bold pop of pink colour on her lips, while also showing off lined eyes and fluttery lashes. Her smooth yet voluminous blowout tied the whole look together.
To be honest, this has to be one of our favourite looks of the night. Eighth Grade star Elsie Fisher not only killed it in her dapper pantsuit, but she nailed it on the beauty front, too. The 15-year-old actress wore her hair down and clipped to the side (we told you hair clips were trending!), and kept her makeup look simple apart from a graphic cat eye. Man, we wish we were as cool as her when we were teens.
Awkwafina looked like a sparkly metallic dream, perfectly matching her eyeshadow to her incredibly cool outfit (it looks like we need to go pantsuit shopping, STAT). She kept the rest of her makeup fresh and natural, adding just a pop of pink on her lips. As for her hair, she had her locks out in relaxed, beachy-looking waves.
Laura just proved that blue eyeshadow can *actually* look good, especially when matched to your dress. Wearing her hair up in a wispy updo, her pastel eye makeup look made a bold statement – and we can’t wait to try it for ourselves! If you’re looking to copy the look, celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo said he used a combination of CHANEL Ombre Premiere Longwear Cream Eyeshadow in Pourpre Profond and CHANEL Premiere Longwear Powder Eyeshadow in Nuage Bleu.
10 out of 10 on the blue eyeliner look, Tina. Similar to Laura Harrier’s beauty look, Tina matched her eye makeup to her gown, lining her lower lash line with a striking blue hue. After spotting Margot Robbie’s blue eye makeup look at the BAFTAs, we have the feeling that this colour might just be making a major comeback this season.
